Dr Wee pledges support to family of student found dead at school in Yong Peng


BATU PAHAT: Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has pledged assistance to the family of a 16-year-old girl who was found dead at a secondary school in Yong Peng.

Dr Wee said he was shocked and saddened by the news of the student’s death and conveyed his deepest condolences to her family.

“May they be given the strength and courage to get through this difficult time,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday (Oct 4).

Dr Wee also said his team would do whatever they could to assist the family with whatever they might need following the tragedy.

The MP, who is also MCA president, urged the public to allow the authorities to conduct their investigation into the case.

“For now, let us give the authorities the space they need to conduct their investigations,” he said.

The victim was found dead at the secondary school in Yong Peng on Saturday (Oct 3) evening, with police investigating the case as a suspected murder.

It is learnt that police have arrested three male students to help with the ongoing investigations into the case.
