Three students arrested following murder of 16-year-old schoolgirl in Yong Peng


PETALING JAYA: Three male students have been detained by police in connection with the murder of a Form Four female student whose body was discovered at a school in Yong Peng on Saturday (Oct 3).

The victim, identified as 16-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, was found dead inside the school hall at around 5.30pm, reported Sinar Harian.

Police arrested the three 16-year-old suspects, who attend the same school as the victim, just hours after the body was uncovered. One of the suspects is expected to be brought to the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court on Sunday morning (Oct 4) for a remand application to assist in ongoing investigations.

According to reports, the victim was discovered by her grandmother, who had gone to the school to look for her after she failed to return home following tuition classes.
