BIDOR: PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad has come to the defence of Perikatan Nasional’s by-election candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek, amid claims that he falsified information when applying for his religious teaching accreditation (tauliah) in Perak.
Idris said Abd Muhaimin received his credentials from the Perak Mufti Department in 2014.
“There’s a narrative going around trying to make it seem as though our candidate has lied about having a tauliah.
“Getting a tauliah is not easy. I myself have one, and it's not an easy process. You have to face a panel of experts, including the deputy mufti and others who question you from various angles before you’re approved," he said in a press conference at Perikatan's media centre here on Tuesday (April 15).
This comes after claims that Abd Muhaimin had allegedly lied in the application process for the religious teaching certificate.
“Muhaimin went through that process and received his tauliah back in 2014, and he is not joking (main-main) about it,” he added.
Idris also claimed that those lodging the reports might not even have tauliah themselves.
“Applying for it doesn’t mean you’ll be granted one. Getting the form itself doesn’t guarantee anything, let alone approval.
“Muhaimin has a tauliah. It’s different from someone claiming to have qualifications when they don’t,” he said.
