SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, met and dined with two former Selangor mentris besar, Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, as well as the current Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The meeting took place after the recitation of Yasin, tahlil and prayers for safety held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration of His Royal Highness' 25-year reign at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, here.
"This meeting reflects the Sultan of Selangor's continuous concern regarding the state's direction and the people's livelihood, whilst demonstrating the good relationship between the royal institution and the state's administrative leadership, including those who previously shouldered the responsibility," according to a post on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page on Friday (Oct 2).
According to the post, Sultan Sharafuddin advised political leaders not to fight, squabble or wrestle for power to the point of triggering division among themselves.
Instead, he wanted all efforts and attention to be focused on the state's development, the well-being of the people and the welfare of those in need.
His Royal Highness also said that differences in stance and political ideologies should not be a barrier to cooperation for the benefit of the state and its people.
"Leadership responsibilities must be carried out with full trustworthiness, prioritising the people's interests above personal or political group interests.
"His Royal Highness also reminded that Selangor's progress must be accompanied by societal harmony and administrative stability.
"Hence, leaders must maintain an attitude of mutual respect and prioritise constructive discussions in addressing any differences," the post stated. – Bernama
