Putra Heights inferno: More than 1,400 volunteers for gotong-royong this weekend, says S'gor MB

PUTRA HEIGHTS: More than 1,400 volunteers will take part in this weekend’s mega gotong-royong programme to clean areas affected by the gas pipeline disaster in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Selangor Mentri Besar said the state had registered 1,402 volunteers for the event as of Friday (April 11).

With this massive volunteer force, he said the programme is expected to fully clean up at least 90% of the affected areas by the end of the weekend.

“Much of our previous clean-up efforts were concentrated in Putra Harmoni and Putra Heights, as permission was granted earlier.

“But authorities have given the green light for Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru a few days ago, so we will mobilise volunteers, machinery, and other resources to carry out the work to the best we can,” he said during a press conference at the Putra Heights Mosque victim relief centre on Friday (April 11).

He added that previous clean-up efforts have removed over 100 tonnes of trash from the affected areas as of Thursday (April 10).
