Roof of science lab at Kuala Pilah school collapses

KUALA PILAH: A section of the roof on the third floor of a three-storey block at SMK Juasseh near here collapsed around noon on Tuesday (Aug 18).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said no injuries were reported in the incident.

"We received a call around 12.08pm and a team was already at the school located around 10km away around 12.19pm.

"The team immediately conducted a check and found that a section of the roof on the third floor where the science labs are located had collapsed," he said in a statement.

He said the department's Hazmat team from Seremban 2 was dispatched to the school as there were chemicals stored in the lab.

This was to manage potential chemical hazards, although the specific chemicals involved have not yet been identified.
