Melaka to host National TVET Day 2025 in June

PUTRAJAYA: The National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2025 will be held from June 11 to 13 at the Melaka International Trade Centre, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also the National TVET Council chairman, said the event will bring together participants from all ministries and agencies related to TVET, as well as industry players, reflecting synergy and collaboration in realising the comprehensive empowerment of TVET.

"In conjunction with National TVET Day 2025, Malaysia, as the Asean Chair for 2025, will also host the Asean TVET Council Regional Policy Dialogue from June 11 to 13 in Kuala Lumpur.

"The organisation of this regional dialogue is a manifestation of Malaysia’s commitment to drive regional cooperation towards the development of skilled human capital and strengthen networks among ASEAN member countries in the TVET field,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Dr Ahmad Zahid chaired the National TVET Council Meeting (MTVET) 1/2025 here today, where several strategic agendas were discussed to strengthen the national TVET landscape, including the issue of the availability of local talent.

"Several briefing papers were presented, including initiatives for the development of TVET techpreneurs, the status of TVET Big Data implementation, the implementation of a sole TVET programme rating, and the findings from the accreditation assessment of the Malaysian Vocational Diploma Programme,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid also emphasised that the development of skilled talent through TVET is a shared responsibility, and therefore, integrated cooperation among all parties, including ministries, agencies, industries, and society, is essential to ensure that TVET remains relevant and continues to be a key driver for the country’s economic growth. - Bernama
