Zahid: APM personnel are unsung heroes


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel are heroes who are always ready to serve the people without expecting praise, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

The Deputy Prime Minister said APM has demonstrated its excellence as a force that rem­ains on standby whenever people need assis­tance, whether in disaster situations, emergencies or other unexpected crises.

“Not all heroes stand in front of the camera. Some move quietly, appear when needed and leave without seeking attention,” he said in a Facebook post in conjunction with the 74th Civil Defence anniversary celebration yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid, who is chairman of the National Disaster Man­age­ment Agency (Nadma), said he has personally witnessed the dedication of APM personnel on the ground, helping with little fanfare while carrying out their respon­sibilities with full discipline.

He conveyed his appreciation to all APM personnel for their service and contributions.

“I would like to thank all APM personnel for their service to the people and the country. Happy 74th Civil Defence anniversary.

“Continue serving and contri­buting to our beloved nation,” he said.
