Putra Heights inferno: 118 witnesses interviewed, say Selangor cops

SUBANG JAYA: A total of 118 witnesses have had their statements taken, including from the contractors, as investigations into explosion area along in Jalan Putra Harmoni continues.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, at a press conference on Sunday (April 6) at the incident area said that this also included the subcontractors.

“A total of 15 were from the contractors, subcontractors and workers,” he said.

He added that the focus now was towards the cause of the incident.

“When that is completed, then we can narrow down on who was involved,” he said.

He added that complaints have been lodged regarding the explosion, including on claims that fireworks were being played near the area on the night March 31 but do not believe that had connections to the explosion.

“We do not see that being related to the explosion the next morning.

“We welcome any information from the public. We have also received videos and we are going through them one by one to find the cause of the explosion from all angles,” he said.

In related matter, Comm Hussein said a contraflow traffic will be implemented near the explosion area along in Jalan Putra Harmoni starting midnight on Monday (April 7).

He added that that only authorities and residents with special passes will be allowed in the affected areas.

"The police, along with the local municipality, will implement contraflow traffic in front of the operations centre camp here, heading from Kingsley towards the Petronas station," he said.

He also urged road users to use alternative roads to avoid congestion.
