47 foreigners nabbed in immigration raid at JB housing area


JOHOR BARU: A total of 47 foreigners have been arrested for various immigration offences following an operation around Senai here.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the operation was carried out in a residential area at about 12.30am on Saturday (Sept 12).

“During the operation, enforcement officers went from house to house to check on residents and ensure that they have valid travel documents and passes.

“Following the inspection, 47 foreigners were arrested for various immigration offences, including not having valid travel documents and overstaying,” he said in a statement.

He said those arrested comprised 31 men and 16 women from Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Mohd Rusdi added that the foreigners, aged between 20 and 48, were taken to the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further investigation and action under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
