Man dies after motorcycle skids on pothole

KUANTAN: A young man died after his motorcycle skidded when it hit a pothole on Jalan Kuantan-Cherok Paloh near Kampung Hijrah on Friday (April 4).

The accident occurred at about 5.17pm, and the victim, Muhammad Hazeem Hazimi Mohd Shamsuddin, 19, who worked as a fisherman, was seriously injured.

He was pronounced dead while receiving treatment in the emergency ward of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA).

Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, said initial investigations found that the victim, riding a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, was believed to be travelling from Kampung Hijrah towards Kampung Chempaka.

Wan Mohd Zahari said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
