CRSM launches GoCare 360 Social Awareness Campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: In a bid to weave a stronger social safety net across Malaysia, the Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) is rallying communities and corporations to address pressing health and welfare challenges.

Through its new GoCare 360 Social Awareness Campaign, CRSM is extending its reach beyond immediate disaster relief, embracing a holistic approach that includes healthcare initiatives and corporate social responsibility.

Driven by a collaborative spirit, this campaign aims to uplift the underprivileged and raise awareness about critical health issues, drawing commendation from leaders and partners dedicated to making a tangible impact on society.

CRSM publicity head Ch’ng Soo Chau said the campaign is named “360” to signify its all-rounded approach.

“We are proud to introduce the GoCare Social Awareness Campaign 360, which encompasses four key components – GoHelp, GoCaring, GoRelief and GoFunding,” he said when met at the campaign launch at Wisma MCA here yesterday.

The first pillar, GoHelp, focuses on health-related initiatives, he said.

“As the name implies, GoHelp is about extending medical assistance. We are collaborating with partners like the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) to provide services such as free HPV vaccinations and cervical cancer screenings.

“Last year, more than 10,000 individuals benefited, significantly improving awareness of cancer prevention,” he said.

The second pillar, GoCaring, said Ch’ng, targets underprivileged communities.

“There are many in our society who face critical times and need our support. Through GoCaring, we provide essential resources like food and financial aid to help them navigate these challenges,” he said.

For GoRelief, Ch’ng said it is aimed at disaster response, such as floods, which are a recurring issue.

“Recently, we responded to a flood in Johor by delivering 40 tonnes of essential goods within 24 hours.

“Our volunteers were also on the ground to assist with evacuations and clean-ups,” he said.

He also highlighted the team’s prompt response to a recent storm in Sekinchan, where they distributed supplies and helped clean affected areas.

Ch’ng said the final component, GoFunding, is crucial for sustaining CRSM’s charitable efforts.

“As a charity organisation, we rely on funding to continue our work. We encourage the public to support us through donations and resources to ensure the smooth operation of our initiatives,” he said.

Ch’ng also thanked all CRSM partners for their invaluable support in this campaign.

Also present at the event were representatives from corporate partners such as NCSM, Aiwibi Malaysia, Rayaco Sdn Bhd, LMZ toothpaste and Noi-C Malaysia.

Ch’ng said the campaign will run throughout the year, aiming to make a significant impact by addressing health, welfare, disaster relief and funding needs in an all-encompassing manner.

MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, who launched the campaign, lauded CRSM’s consistent presence and effectiveness in disaster relief efforts.

“CRSM is well-known for its immediate response to disasters, such as floods. They are always on the ground, providing essential assistance.

“The GoCare initiative extends this dedication to other vital areas, particularly healthcare,” said Dr Mah.

Highlighting the importance of the campaign’s healthcare focus, he said the collaboration with NSCM for an important campaign on HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening was vital in raising the people’s awareness.

“Given the high prevalence of cancer cases in Malaysia, raising awareness is crucial,” he said.

Dr Mah also emphasised the role of corporate social responsibility in supporting these efforts, saying it was essential for society and corporations to step up and assist.

“I’m pleased to see CRSM receiving support from various sectors in Malaysia. Their support is invaluable in providing aid to those who need it most.

“It is a significant initiative to help the needy and underprivileged, especially in times of disaster,” he said.
