UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS (UTP) brought festive cheer to orphans and asnaf this Ramadan by hosting an Iftar in collaboration with Yayasan PETRONAS and the Perak Association of Wives and Women Employees of PETRONAS (PETRONITA).

UTP and PETRONITA distributed duit raya to 68 children from three orphanages:

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Warga Miskin Bait Al-Amin, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Al-Munirah (both in Parit), and Persatuan Kebajikan Cahaya Kasih Kinta in Ipoh.

Additionally, 20 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) from Tronoh, Kg Bali, Taman Maju, and Seri Iskandar received duit raya, contributions from UTP staff, alumni, organisations, and the public.

Yayasan PETRONAS also provided essential food packs for orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Warga Miskin Bait Al-Amin, and Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Al-Munirah.

More than 1,000 guests, including UTP chairman Farehana Hanapiah, vice chancellor Prof Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, PETRONAS staff, members of the UTP executive management committee, representatives from Perak government departments, local authorities, media, and UTP staff and students, attended the event.

This Iftar event is a testament to UTP’s commitment to uplifting the community and embracing the values of empathy and compassion. The university hopes to spread joy to those in need and create a meaningful impact.

UTP remains dedicated to empowering the community and fostering meaningful connections through initiatives that resonate with the spirit of giving and social responsibility.
