PETALING JAYA: Traffic flow on some of the country's major highways are experiencing congestion due to vehicle breakdowns and accidents, as Malaysians start to make their way home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

At 5.21pm on Thursday (March 27), there was a report of a crash on the East Coast Highway at KM230 from Gambang heading to Kuantan. However, the traffic is still flowing.

On the PLUS highway, traffic is at a standstill at the Sg Besi toll plaza heading to the city centre, while traffic on the Elite highway (north-bound) from Putra Heights to Shah Alam is slow moving.

Earlier, a lorry broke down on the left lane of the Penang bridge from Georgetown heading to Perai. The incident has been resolved but traffic is still slow moving.

There was also an accident reported earlier at KM285.5 from Simpang Pulai heading to Ipoh, however, no lanes are obstructed due to the accident.

Traffic is slow-moving from Slim River to Behrang due to an accident at KM386.1 that is blocking the left lane.

PLUS advised road users to be alert and follow instructions provided on signs.

In conjunction with the festival, highway users will benefit from a 50% toll discount nationwide from March 28 until 11.59pm on March 29.

Motorists can obtain the latest traffic updates via the PLUSLine toll-free number 1-800-88-0000 and X (@plustrafik), or through LLM’s hotline 1-800-88-7752 and X (@llmtrafik).
