Floods: Number of evacuees continue to drop in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has continued to decline to 6,992, down from 13,089 earlier in the morning, across five flood-affected districts.

The Johor Disaster Management Committee said the number of evacuees has been gradually decreasing as weather conditions improve.

“As of 8pm on Saturday (March 22), there are still 6,992 flood victims at 44 temporary relief centres (PPS).

“The majority remains in Johor Baru with 3,321 people, followed by Kluang (1,741), Pontian (1,482), Batu Pahat (340), and Kota Tinggi (108),” the committee said in a statement.

The PPS with the highest number of evacuees is SK Kampung Pasir in Perling, which is currently sheltering 657 people.

Meanwhile, only one river monitoring station, Sungai Kahang, remains at a danger level warning.
