Two surviving members of armed robbery gang high on police wanted list

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are actively hunting for two remaining members of an armed robbery gang who were involved in a shootout with police recently.

Three members of the gang were shot dead in a firefight with police in Sepang on Friday (March 14).

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the police have mobilised resources to apprehend the two suspects as soon as possible.

"We are conducting further investigations into the gang and the extent of the crimes," he said on Saturday (March 15).

The three robbers, all foreigners, were gunned down after attacking a team of policemen in Desa Vista, Sepang.

Bukit Aman deputy Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus had said the three foreign robbers were behind 17 robberies and house break-ins.

The trio were shot after breaking into a house, which was caught on CCTV.

"The prompt action was based on information from the house owner who quickly contacted the police after seeing armed robbers wearing masks entering his house.

"A CID team took decisive action and hunted down the suspects, cornering them in the woods near a water tank," he said.
