Dewan Negara approves Motion of Thanks for Royal Address

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Negara on Thursday (March 13) approved the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address.

The motion was approved by a majority of senators who voted in favour after five days of debate, which began on March 3, followed by winding-up sessions from 28 ministries.

Among the key issues raised during the debate were national unity, vernacular schools, artificial intelligence (AI), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and mixed rice (local white rice mixed with imported white rice for profiteering by irresponsible traders).

On Feb 3, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, opened the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament.

According to the Dewan Negara calendar, the current sitting would continue with the tabling of the Malaysian Media Council Bill 2024, followed by debates.

The Dewan Negara sitting will resume on Wednesday, March 19. – Bernama
