Melaka boatmaker offers unique buka puasa experience

MELAKA: A local boatmaker hosted a "buka puasa" event aboard the state's first trimaran yacht, offering a unique experience for guests during Ramadan.

CEO of Fantasy Leisure in Taman Kota Laksamana, Eng Teck Choon, invited key players in the local tourism industry to experience a ride on the yacht, which is the largest vessel of its kind in the state.

"This is a new tourism product for the state, and we are offering various packages for tourists aboard this vessel," he said during a cruise on the D’Dragon Trimaran Yacht on Wednesday (March 5).

The breaking of fast took place along the scenic shores of the Strait of Malacca, with breathtaking views of the Floating Mosque at Pulau Melaka here, enhancing the experience for the invitees.

Eng said that a trimaran was a type of multihull boat consisting of a main hull with two smaller outrigger hulls attached, providing stability and a smooth sailing experience.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Melaka chapter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Goh Hock Gin, expressed optimism about the yacht’s potential to boost tourism in the historic city.

"The yacht will encourage tourists to extend their stay here, as it offers a unique overnight experience," he said.

He also highlighted the appeal of the "sunset cruise" package, which provides a mesmerising view of the coastline as the sun sets over the horizon.

"On MATTA's part, we will actively promote this cruise to both local and international tourists," he said, adding that with this innovative offering and stunning setting, the yacht is set to become a new highlight in Melaka’s tourism landscape.
