PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is set to make history as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will launch a strategic collaboration on Wednesday (March 5) evening between the Malaysian government and a UK-based company.
Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, the Prime Minister's senior press secretary, said in his morning briefing on Wednesday that this will transform the nation’s artificial intelligence and semiconductor landscape.
"The signing of this collaboration with the world’s largest chip architecture design company is the result of the Madani Government’s initiative through the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry (MITI), the Finance Ministry, and the Economy Ministry.

"The Prime Minister views this partnership as a strategic step to strengthen the country’s technology ecosystem, positioning Malaysia as a key player in the global technology arena.
"With the signing of this agreement, Malaysia leads other nations as the first technology ecosystem partner for this company, making it the main hub in ASEAN. Malaysia will also be the first country in the region where the company will establish its office.
This collaboration enables Malaysian companies to leverage advanced technology and expertise in the semiconductor sector while also providing training for local skilled talent," said Tunku Nashrul.
On another matter, he said Anwar will visit the states to chair special state development meetings alongside key state government leaders and agencies.
"The Prime Minister has made it clear that eradicating hardcore poverty remains his top priority in discussions with state government leaders and agencies.

"Since this agenda was announced in Budget 2023, he has mobilised all political secretaries to the states to ensure that efforts and assistance are systematically delivered to hardcore poor groups.
"These efforts include increasing the income of targeted groups, providing job opportunities, improving access to education, healthcare, and housing, and enhancing the living standards and well-being of impoverished households.
"As of December 31 last year, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Perlis have successfully achieved zero hardcore poverty, and this success will be extended to other states," said Tunku Nashrul.
