MetMalaysia: Thunderstorm warning issued for multiple Malaysian regions


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in various parts of Malaysia, extending until 7pm on Friday (Feb 14), says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In Kedah, affected areas include Kuala Muda, Baling, and Kulim.

Perak regions under alert are Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, and Kuala Kangsar.

Kelantan's Jeli and Gua Musang are also expected to experience severe weather.

In Pahang, the areas of Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Raub are on alert.

In Selangor, the warning covers Hulu Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang, as well as WP Putrajaya.

Negeri Sembilan areas include Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau.

In Johor, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru are expected to be impacted.

In Sarawak, Sri Aman and Betong (Pusa and Betong) are under the thunderstorm warning.

This warning is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

The warning is a short-term alert, effective for up to six hours from issuance.
