3.8 magnitude temblor rocks Sabah's Kota Marudu

KOTA KINABALU: A 3.8 magnitude quake was detected in the Kota Marudu district at around 10.39am, Monday (Feb 10).

The Meteorological Department recorded the weak quake some 27km south of Kota Marudu at a depth of 10km.

The department is keeping a close watch on the incident, and has urged those who felt tremours to fill up a survey at https://forms.gle/k1owPntC45VwoVda6.

So far, there are no reports of incidents or damage following the quake.

Kota Marudu Fire Station chief Hasbi Hajat said there were no reports of any emergencies as yet but firemen had already been dispatched to high risk premises and areas for monitoring.

“High risk premises include hospitals, banks, gas stations and areas with denser populations or areas that can affect a community if something happened,” he said.
