Flood victims in Kota Tinggi increase to 283


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Kota Tinggi has risen to 283 people as the rain continues.

Johor Disaster Management Committee said all victims, from 85 families, are seeking shelter at three relief centres, as of 2pm on Wednesday (Feb 5).

“The victims are from Taman Desaru Utama, Kampung Baru Sungai Mas and Taman Penawar Harmoni.

“They have been relocated to the centres at Dewan Muafakat Taman Desaru, Dewan Kampung Baru Sungai Mas and SK Bandar Penawar respectively,” it said in a statement.

Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) had issued a warning for heavy rain and strong wind in Johor until 2pm today (Feb 5).
