Probe against university students in anti-corruption rally and families of Sosma detainees dropped, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: The ongoing investigation into university students involved in the ‘Himpunan Rakyat Benci Rasuah’ (People Hate Corruption rally) will be dropped, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar stated that no action would be taken against those summoned by the police over the rally, which was held on Jan 25.

"The same applies to the recent hunger strike and protest by families of detainees under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) – no action will be taken against them," he told the Lower House during Prime Minister's Question Time on Thursday (Feb 13).

Earlier this month, around 50 protesters, who are family members of inmates detained under Sosma, staged a hunger strike outside the Sungai Buloh Prison complex after their visitation requests were rejected.
