Police investigating rally against Sosma near Sungai Buloh Prison


SUNGAI BULOH: The police are investigating a rally held near the entrance to Sungai Buloh Prison, which called for the abolishment of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the demonstration occurred at about 8.10am on Saturday (Feb 8).

"The participants of the rally were family members of a Sosma detainee. Other participants also have family members being held at the prison," he said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 9).

Police estimated about 50 people, including children, took part in the demonstration.

"They were carrying various placards," he added.

Supt Mohd Hafiz said police are investigating under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"We are in the midst of identifying those involved and will call them up to record their statements," he added.
