Country’s score on global Corruption Perceptions Index remains same, says TI-M

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's score and ranking on the global Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024 have remained the same compared to 2023, according to Transparency International Malaysia.

Its president Dr Muhammad Mohan said that the ranking also remained the same.

"To score 25th, Malaysia has to work very hard and move to at least 68 points next year," when announcing the CPI 2024 results during a press conference on Tuesday (Feb 11).

The nation improved it's CPI standing in 2023 when Malaysia scored 50 with a ranking of 57 compared to a score of 47 and a ranking of 61 in 2022.

It was previously reported in Nov 2024, that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (Prevention), Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali said that Malaysia can achieve its target of 25th position in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranking by 2033, provided all parties work together with the commission.

When tabling the Budget 2025, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, announced an increase in MACC's allocation to RM360 mil in 2025, compared to RM338 mil last year.
