Alam Damai house razed in fire believed to have started from charging EV

KUALA LUMPUR: A two-storey terrace house in Alam Damai was destroyed in a fire early Sunday (Aug 16), believed to have started from an electric vehicle (EV) that was being charged.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 5.03am before mobilising a team to the scene.

“When firefighters arrived, the fire involved the two-storey terrace house, with the damage estimated at 100%.

“The fire was believed to have started from an EV that was being charged in the front area of the house,” he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 17).

He said no injuries were reported and the operation was fully concluded at 6.41am.

A total of 22 personnel from the Cheras, Sungai Besi and Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed for the operation.
