Roads to be closed in Ipoh for cultural procession during Chap Goh Meh


IPOH: Several roads in the city will be closed for a cultural procession that is held in conjunction with the Chap Goh Meh celebration on Wednesday (Feb 12).

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the roads would be closed in stages starting at 5pm until 9pm.

"The procession, with decorated floats and lion dancers, will begin at the Ipoh Padang.

"The parade will pass through several roads in the city before ending at the same starting location at 9pm," he said in a statement.

"The roads involved included Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Sultan Yussof, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Laxamana, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Bijeh Timah, Persiaran Bijeh Timah, Jalan Dato Maharajalela and Jalan Bandar.

"Motorists are advised to plan their trips and to obey instructions by traffic policemen on duty at the roads involved," he said, adding that about 1,000 people are expected to take part in the procession.
