Driver who hit ACCA top scorer released on police bail

KUALA LUMPUR: The car driver who hit the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA FIA) top scorer Aysar Zahran Saiful Alimin has been released on police bail after having his statement taken and being remanded for a day.

Kajang OCPD ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 4) that the man, 27, tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal record, adding that they were waiting for reports from the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) and the Chemistry Department to complete their investigation into the crash.

Aysar Zahran, 20, was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a Perodua Alza that entered the opposing lane in a six-vehicle crash along Jalan Hulu Langat-Ampang at about 4.45 pm Sunday (Feb 2).

He was the top scorer in Malaysia and placed second in the FIA ACCA examinations for the Management Information 1 (MA1) paper in December 2023.

He was buried at the Batu 16 Muslim Cemetery, in Hulu Langat, on Monday (Feb 3). - Bernama
