Missing in Hiroshima: Family lost touch with Nurin since Jan 27

PETALING JAYA: The disappearance of Malaysian student Nurin Hannani Hafizi in Kure Kosen, Hiroshima, was first noticed when she failed to contact her family, which she usually does.

According to her friend Mohd Hafizi, 21, Nurin Hannani left the dormitory for class without informing anyone of her whereabouts.

"Normally, Nurin Hannani would always inform her mother about what she was doing and when she was going out," he said, as quoted by Sinar Harian on Thursday (Jan 30).

"But on Monday (Jan 27), she left the dormitory to go to class, and there was no news from her."

Initially, her mother was not overly worried, but after failing to reach her, she contacted those responsible for looking after Hannani in Japan.

Nurin Hannani, a student at a higher education institute in Kure Kosen, Hiroshima, Japan, has been reported missing since Jan 27.

The 21-year-old is believed to have disappeared after leaving campus at noon on Monday and did not attend class as usual.

Another friend mentioned that Nurin Hannani, from Taiping, Perak, is a quiet person who never hides problems from her family.

She is a first-year engineering student majoring in Urban Planning and Environmental Engineering, sponsored by the Public Service Department.

It is understood that her family is preparing to leave for Hiroshima, although the date is not yet known.

"Hopefully, she returns home safely, as she is a good friend who always helps others," the friend added.

Members of the public with information on Nurin Hannani's whereabouts are urged to contact Tokyo Education and Training Advisory Office officer, Imran Yusof at 8180-7651-8080 or Yang Munirah at 012-688 8364.
