Foreigner arrested after female college student found dead in Bandar Sunway condo


PETALING JAYA: A female private higher education institution student was found dead, suspected of being murdered, at a condominium in Bandar Sunway on Tuesday (June 23).

Petaling Jaya deputy district police chief Supt M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said they received information regarding the incident at 11.03am before a police team was deployed to the scene to conduct an investigation.

“Initial examinations found that the victim, in her 20s, is believed to have died and there were several injury marks on her body,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Following the incident, police arrested a foreign man aged in his 20s at the same location to assist with the investigation.

M Hussin Sollehuddin said the forensic team conducting the investigation at the scene also seized several exhibits believed to be able to assist with the case.

“The motive of the incident is still under investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.

The body of the victim has been sent to the Universiti Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, to determine the cause of death.

“Members of the public who have information related to the incident are urged to come forward to the nearest police station or contact investigating officer Asst Supt Surianti Lataera at 013-335 2547 to assist with investigations,” he said.

He also advised the public not to make any speculations or spread materials related to the incident on any platform that could affect the police investigation.
