Motorist dies after losing control of car, crashing into lorry in Kluang

KLUANG: A 39-year-old member of the Armed Forces was killed after his car crashed into a lorry at KM72 Jalan Batu Pahat - Mersing, here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the police were notified about the incident at 4.25pm on Monday (Jan 27).

“Initial investigations revealed that the victim, identified as Mohd Shahruddin A. Rahim, was heading towards Kahang from Kluang.

“However, upon arriving at the location, the driver lost control of his vehicle and went into the opposite lane.

“An oncoming lorry, driven by a 40-year-old man, failed to evade in time and crashed into the car,” he said in a statement Monday (Jan 27).

ACP Bahrin added that the victim, who is stationed at Kem Mahkota, suffered serious injuries on the head and body and was pronounced dead at the location.

“The lorry driver suffered minor injuries on the face and chest and is currently being treated at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
