Johor hits RM2bil revenue in 2024, highest in its history

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor has collected the highest-ever revenue in its history with a total collection of over RM2bil last year, says Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He added that he had informed Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim of the matter during an audience on Wednesday (Jan 15).

“Initially our revenue forecast for 2024 was RM1.9bil. However, after closing the state government accounts, the total revenue we collected last year was RM2.1bil.

“This is the highest revenue collected by Johor in its history, a testament to the hard work by state government departments and agencies including government-linked companies (GLCs),” he told the media after an economic transformation programme strategic workshop with state civil servants here on Thursday (Jan 16).

He added that the state government has set a target of collecting between RM2.3bil and RM2.5bil in revenue this year.

“During the audience, Tunku Ismail decreed that whatever additional income the state government collected must be returned to the people.

“This is to ensure that the people can reap economic benefits from all the development taking place in Johor,” he said, adding that it was a good start to the year for the state government.
