Saifuddin Nasution leaves it to cops to probe allegation against son

SEPANG: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has stated firmly that no individual, including his son, is above the law. His son is currently under investigation for criminal intimidation.

"My son is not above the law. If a report has been made against him, it is the responsibility of the police to investigate the case transparently and fairly.

"If there is a basis in the case, let the law take its course. The principle I hold is that none of us, including my son, is immune to the law," he said after inspecting the newly implemented MyBorderPass QR code system at KL International Airport on Saturday (Jan 11).

Saifuddin confirmed that, as previously mentioned by the police, the investigation into the case has been completed, and the probe papers are with the Attorney-General's Chambers.

The case recently gained attention on social media when the son of a Cabinet minister was accused of threatening a woman who allegedly held him accountable for her pregnancy.

The alleged threat occurred during a discussion with the woman and several others at a house in Telok Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang, on Dec 24 last year. A police report of the incident was lodged on Jan 1.

Police are seeking a pregnancy report from the complainant for the investigation and have learned that the minister’s son is already married to her.

Regarding the arrest of a top executive of TV Sarawak (TVS) and four others on Friday over alleged money laundering and criminal breach of trust, Saifuddin said police had briefed him about the case, and investigations are ongoing.

"Let the police commercial crimes investigation department investigate and complete the probe," he said.
