Police have completed investigation into minister's son's intimidation case, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have completed their investigation into a criminal intimidation case involving the son of a minister, which has gained widespread attention on social media.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that the investigation paper was referred to the deputy public prosecutor on Monday (Jan 6) for further action based on current laws.

"We do not compromise in taking action, nor do we protect any parties who have committed an offence. We have also recorded the statements of all those involved in the case," he said when contacted on Thursday (Jan 9).

The case was reported on Jan 1 and was investigated thoroughly. The prosecution has instructed the investigating officer to obtain a pregnancy report for a woman who claimed to have been threatened by the minister's son.

Initial investigations revealed that the minister's son has already married the woman, who was reported to be pregnant.

"We are waiting for confirmation of the marriage certificate," he added.

The IGP stressed that the police have never protected anyone who has committed an offence, even if it involves a minister or their family members.

The police investigation is transparent, and they will ensure the culprit is brought to justice.

Earlier, an incident went viral on Telegram involving a minister's son who allegedly threatened a woman who was demanding he take responsibility for her pregnancy which was seven weeks along at the time.

The threat reportedly occurred during a discussion with the woman and other witnesses at a house in Telok Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang, on Dec 24.

The case is classified under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
