Man found dead in locked room in Kota Kinabalu


KOTA KINABALU: A 56-year-old man was found dead on his bed in a locked room near here on Wednesday (Jan 1).

The victim had not responded when his family called out to him, as they were unable to open his door at Kampung Minintod, Jalan Bantayan.

Concerned for his safety, the family contacted authorities for assistance.

Lintasa Fire Station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said they received an emergency call at around 11.52am, and a team was dispatched to the scene.

"When firemen managed to unlock the door using special tools, they found the man unconscious on his bed," she said.

Health Department officials on the scene later pronounced the man dead.

The man's family took over further arrangements, and firemen concluded their operations on site at 12.43pm.

No other casualties were reported.
