The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has lined-up five key proceedings next year, which include matters involving Khazanah Nasional Bhd investments and healthcare insurance.
PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin told the media yesterday the proceedings will be held from Feb 3 until March 6, 2025.
This includes the Finance Ministry’s management of airports, which involves Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAHB) and Khazanah Nasional. It will also look into Khazanah’s domestic investments.
Mas Ermieyati confirmed that the Fashion Valet issue will be part of the committee’s order of business next year.
On healthcare insurance and charges for private healthcare, Mas Ermieyati said the ecosystem for private healthcare services, the control mechanisms, legal frameworks and insurance payment, as well as the impact from rising healthcare costs will also be looked into.
This will involve Bank Negara, the Health Ministry and Finance Ministry.
The other two proceedings are a land development project under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in the Federal Territories, and the procurement of electric trains on a 30-year lease worth RM10.7bil under the Transport and Economy ministries, as well as Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
Mas Ermieyati said the committee will also table six reports when the House convenes its first meeting next year.
They are 1MDB debt guarantee commitments; the implementation of the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) project; Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) project; the country’s water management; padi planting programme management, as well as the rural water supply project in Sabah and Sarawak.
Three follow-up proceeding reports on the National Professors Council, Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera and management of Mara Inc will also be tabled.
On the last day of the Dewan Rakyat meeting for 2024, Mas Ermieyati said from January this year, the committee had carried out 148 meetings.
It also tabled 22 reports to the Dewan Rakyat, compared with 64 meetings and 13 reports in 2023.
