Body found in barrel filled with cement in Alor Gajah

ALOR GAJAH: A barrel containing human remains and filled with cement has been found by the roadside near the Machap Water Reservoir here, says Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar.

He said the barrel was found by three people fishing at the reservoir at about 11.40am on Sunday (Sept 13).

"They cut the top of the barrel and found bones cemented inside it.

"They lodged a police report and our team arrived at the location at about noon," he told reporters at the scene on Sunday.

Ahmad said investigations found remains had been decomposing for at least three weeks.

He said police then sought assistance from the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department to retrieve the barrel and the remains were taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the victim's gender and identity.

He urged anyone missing a family member to lodge a police report to aid the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – Bernama
