JOHOR BARU: MCA will adopt stricter key performance indicators (KPIs) when selecting councillors to ensure better service delivery to the community, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Ayer Hitam MP said the matter was among several issues discussed at the Johor MCA state committee meeting which he chaired on Saturday (Sept 12).
“During the meeting, we discussed several important matters, including the party’s strategies to play our part in supporting the continued development of Johor’s economy and infrastructure, as well as the welfare of the people of Johor,” he said in a Facebook post.
Dr Wee said the party also discussed the selection of councillors, including using stricter KPIs in assessing candidates.
“This is to ensure that services to the community are delivered to the highest possible standard,” he said.
He also urged MCA leaders serving as the party’s frontline representatives to take greater initiative in communicating with the public.
This included the party’s state assemblymen, councillors and village heads.
“I reminded MCA leaders, particularly our state assemblymen, councillors and village heads who serve as the party’s frontline representatives, to take the initiative in delivering clear and accurate messages to the people and the wider community,” he said.
Dr Wee said MCA’s machinery in Johor must also remain prepared to support Barisan Nasional candidates in the upcoming Melaka state election.
He called on party members and leaders to be ready to assist in the campaign to secure victory for Barisan candidates.
“The party machinery must be fully prepared and assist in the campaign to secure victory for Barisan candidates in the upcoming Melaka state election, which is expected to be held in the near future,” he said.
