KOTA TINGGI: A traffic policeman was injured after a motorcyclist allegedly crashed into him during an enforcement operation in Kota Tinggi town area here.
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the incident occurred at about 10.03am on Sunday (Sept 13) during a motorcycle operation conducted by the district police headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.
He said the operation was held to take action against motorcyclists who failed to wear helmets.
“During the operation, police spotted a man riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
“When police instructed him to stop, the man suddenly crashed into the traffic policeman who was on duty,” he said here on Sunday.
Supt Yusof said a medical examination at the Kota Tinggi Hospital found that the personnel had suffered a broken right arm.
“A 24-year-old local man was arrested and detained to assist with investigations,” he added.
Supt Yusof said the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 322 of the same Act.
“Police take this incident seriously and action will be taken against those who violate traffic regulations.
“The public is reminded to always comply with the laws and regulations that have been set,” he added.
