Hulu Kinta assemblyman Muhamad Arafat referred to Rights and Privilege Committee

IPOH: Hulu Kinta assemblyman Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad has been referred to the Rights and Privilege Committee over alleged malicious and misleading accusations.

Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid (pic) made the ruling under provisions 40 (1), 40 (3) and 40 (7) of the Standing Orders after the motion was tabled by Muhammad Hakimi Hamzi Mohd Hayat (PN- Titi Serong) at the sitting on Wednesday (Dec 5).

The motion was supported by Muhammad Zulfadli Zainal (PN-Slim).

Muhammad Hakimi said during the sitting on Dec 3 Muhamad Arafat had told the opposition to fix the states they were ruling first when speaking about the alleged weakness and corruption of the Terengganu State Development Corporation.

“Specifically, he also accused and hurt the feelings of Gunung Semanggol assemblyman (Razman Zakaria) by calling him a “penjilat” (sycophant).

“The statements clearly contain elements that are contrary to the facts and contain elements of malicious speculation, and this is misleading this August House,” he said.

On Wednesday (Dec 4), Razman was referred to the committee for alleged slander and racial incitement.

On Dec 2, Razman (PN- Gunung Semanggol) issued a statement during the assembly sitting stating that Malaysian citizens had raised Chinese national flags during an event held in Teluk Intan on Oct 24
