Thunderstorm, heavy rain warning for KL, 10 states until 6pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind warning for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and 10 states until 6pm Wednesday (Sept 23).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.

In Kedah, the areas expected to be affected are Kulim, Bandar Baharu and Baling, while in Perak, the warning covers Hulu Perak, Selama, Larut Matang, Kerian, Kuala Kangsar, Perak Tengah, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Hilir Perak.

The same warning has been issued for Kelantan, covering Jeli and Kuala Krai; Terengganu (Kemaman, Dungun, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Setiu and Hulu Terengganu); and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong, Bera, Jerantut, Lipis and Kuantan).

Bad weather is also expected to hit Selangor (Petaling, Gombak and Hulu Langat); Negri Sembilan (Jelebu and Jempol); and Johor (Kulai, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Muar, Tangkak and Segamat).

In Sabah, the warning covers Sandakan (Kinabatangan), Tawau (Lahad Datu, Tawau and Kalabakan), Interior (Pensiangan, Tambunan, Tenom, Membakut, Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Keningau and Sipitang) and West Coast.

In Sarawak, the areas expected to be affected are Limbang and Miri (Bario, Marudi, Miri and Telang Usan). - Bernama
