Flood victims in Johor rise to 298


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in the state has continued to rise.

At 6pm, the figure stood at 298 people from 82 families, compared to 184 people from 51 families at 4pm on Friday (Nov 29).

The state disaster management committee said the victims have been relocated to six temporary relief centres (PPS) in Segamat and Tangkak.

"There are two PPS in Tangkak, namely SK Bukit Rahmat and Sekolah Agama Bandar, which house 226 people from 63 families.

"In Segamat, four PPS are in operation: Balairaya Kampung Paya Lebar, Balairaya Kampung Bukit Tunggal, Balairaya Kampung Jabi, and Balairaya Kampung Batu Badak.

"There are 72 flood victims from 19 families in Segamat," the committee said in a statement.

The highest number of victims is from Kampung Parit Bengkok in Tangkak, with 160 villagers from 45 families.
