Motorcyclist dies after crashing into backhoe near Gelang Patah


GELANG PATAH: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after hitting the rear of a backhoe on Friday (Aug 28) morning.

The incident took place at 8.40am on Jalan Tanjung Kupang, near Jalan Persiaran Laman Setia 2 in Laman Setia Utama, Setia Eco Garden, near here.

"Eight firemen were deployed to the accident scene," said Iskandar Puteri fire station operations commander Mohd Zaki Ismail in a statement.

He said the team arrived at the accident site, about 10km from the station, at 8.51am.

Zaki said the accident occurred when the 27-year-old victim crashed into the backhoe, which was trying to move into the right lane.

"The victim suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead by a Health Ministry medical team," he said.

The body was handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 9.35am, he added.
