PETALING JAYA: Sri Aman in Sarawak recorded a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as of 3pm on Friday (Aug 28), as haze conditions worsened across the country, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Sri Aman recorded 213, the only station nationwide to breach the very unhealthy threshold. A total of 21 other areas recorded unhealthy readings.
In Sarawak, seven other areas also recorded unhealthy readings - IPD Serian (182), Sarikei (161), Kuching (158), Sibu (131), Bintulu (129), Miri (108) and an eighth station awaiting data.
Outside Sarawak, 14 areas recorded unhealthy readings. Cheras in WP Kuala Lumpur recorded 160, followed by Seberang Perai in Pulau Pinang (158), Minden in Pulau Pinang (158) and Taiping in Perak (154).

Sungai Petani in Kedah (154), Seberang Jaya in Pulau Pinang (153), Shah Alam in Selangor (153), Johan Setia in Selangor (153) and Alor Setar in Kedah (152) also recorded unhealthy readings, along with Batu Muda in WP Kuala Lumpur (152), Putrajaya (148), Tasek Ipoh in Perak (140), Petaling Jaya in Selangor (130), Seremban in Negeri Sembilan (110) and Tanjung Malim in Perak (107).
Meanwhile, 44 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while one area recorded a good reading. Jerantut in Pahang recorded 44, the only station to record good air quality.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
