PEKAN: Two drivers died in a three-vehicle crash at KM3 on Jalan Pekan-Kuantan on Tuesday (Nov 26).

Sinar Harian reported that the crash occurred at about 11.05am. The driver of a pickup, Azuwan Zainal Abidin, 34, from Sepekan Jaya here, was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Pekan Hospital.

Pekan OCPD Supt Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said another victim who was driving a subcompact sedan, Raja Mustafa Shah Raja Jalil Shah, 71, from Taman Sri Maulana, was also reported to have died while receiving treatment at the same hospital.

According to him, the 26-year-old man driving an MPV was reported to be safe without any injuries.

"Initial investigations found that the accident occurred when the pickup driven by the trader was travelling from Pekan towards Kuantan while two other vehicles were coming from the opposite direction.

"Upon arriving at the incident scene, the pickup involved is believed to have lost control and skidded into the opposite lane before hitting the subcompact sedan," he said.

"The case is being investigated and classified under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
