Suzana Idayu Wati appointed Felda’s first female DG

KUALA LUMPUR: Felda has announced the appointment of Datuk Dr Suzana Idayu Wati Osman as its new director-general, effective today, making her the first woman to hold the post.

In a statement, Felda said that Suzana Idayu Wati takes over from Datuk Amiruddin Abdul Satar, whose tenure concluded on Oct 14.

"This appointment reflects recognition of women’s roles in driving the nation’s economic development and aligns with the government’s aspiration to empower women’s participation across all sectors as a key driver towards a progressive and sustainable Malaysia,” the statement read.

Felda expressed confidence that Suzana Idayu Wati will lead the organisation towards new achievements and enduring positive impacts on its 112,638 settler families and future generations nationwide.

Suzana Idayu Wati has extensive experience in the plantation sector, having joined Felda as an administrative officer in 1998 and eventually becoming head of investment in 2008.

She later held prominent positions at FGV Holdings Berhad, including deputy group chief executive officer, before serving as chief investment officer at the Social Security Organisation.

Her leadership is further strengthened by over three decades of experience across various sectors, including banking, finance, investment and institutional asset management.

Suzana Idayu Wati holds a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in Finance from Universiti Putra Malaysia and has been involved in senior management and board roles in over 35 entities domestically and internationally.

She has also previously served as chairman of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) and a board member of Felcra.

"Her contributions as MSPO chairman demonstrate her commitment to the industry and sustainable management, which are crucial to ensuring Felda advances a sustainability agenda that harmonises economic growth with environmental responsibility,” the statement added.

In addition to her role as a board member of Felda and its subsidiaries, such as FGV Holdings, MSM Holdings and Encorp Berhad, Suzana Idayu Wati is also the chairman of IIUM Holdings Berhad and a board member of the Private Pension Administrator. - Bernama
