KAJANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad as part of an active probe into the agency, with investigators now seeking cross-border legal help to retrieve key evidence abroad.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed that officers interviewed Mohd Isa at the Sungai Buloh Prison on Sept 17, with questioning resuming the following day.
"We expect the process to continue for another three to four days, starting again on Monday," Abd Halim told reporters at the Maktab Jabatan Penjara on Saturday (Sept 19).
He added that investigators are focusing on securing critical documents held by parties overseas, primarily in the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
To bridge the jurisdictional gap, the anti-graft agency plans to file for Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) through the Attorney-General’s Chambers. The application will enable MACC officers to travel abroad, gather physical evidence, and record additional statements from overseas witnesses.
