KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will recommend pressing charges against two former senior Felda officials over alleged irregularities surrounding the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed at a press conference on Saturday (Sept 19) that the suspects, a former Felda director-general and a former Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) chief executive officer, were arrested on Sept 6.
"We will seek consent from the Attorney-General to proceed with prosecution. We expect to present the case to the Attorney-General next week. If consent is granted, charges could be filed in court the following week," Abd Halim said, noting that while the anti-graft body submits recommendations, final authority on prosecution rests solely with the Attorney-General.
Investigators have recorded statements from 30 witnesses, including board members, Felda and FIC management personnel, legal advisers, property valuers, and law firm representatives.
Abd Halim added that MACC is also scrutinising allegations that key board members withheld critical information and actual property valuations regarding the transactions under review.
