Bersatu polls: Muhyiddin, Hamzah win top two posts uncontested, Ahmad Faizal is VP


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu is now one of three Bersatu vice-presidents, together with Datuk Dr Radzi Md Jidin and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

"The vice-president posts were won by Radzi with 11,690 votes, Ronald with 11,295 votes, and Ahmad Faizal with 9,278 votes," said Bersatu election committee chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi during a press conference at Yayasan Selangor on Thursday (Nov 2).

Ahmad Faizal was the former Bersatu deputy president.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin won the Bersatu president and deputy president posts uncontested.

A total of 80 candidates contested for the 20 seats in the Bersatu supreme council.

Those elected include Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, Indera Mahkota MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid, Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, and Kelantan Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohamed Farid Mohamed Zawawi, who is also Kok Lanas MP.

Former Johor mentri besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal and Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin were also elected into the supreme council.

Bemban assemblyman Dr Yadzil Yaakub, who recently faced calls to step down as Melaka Bersatu chief and saw his Jasin division suspended, was also elected.

Abdul Azim also announced that permanent chairman Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah retained his position, while Mohd Hanafiah Hamzah was welcomed as the party's latest deputy chairman.
