No internal division during Bersatu polls, says Radzi

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin says there was no division within Bersatu during the party polls that ended last Saturday (Nov 2).

"There was no division (within the party). What is important is for the newly elected leadership to continue strategising to ensure the party remains strong," said the Bersatu vice-president after the Bersatu 2024-2027 results were announced at Yayasan Selangor here on Monday (Nov 4).

This was following claims of "camps" forming within the party ahead of the polls.

On retaining his vice-president post, Radzi said he would continue to strengthen the party and focus on the people for the next general election.

On the exit of Bersatu members at division level, Radzi said efforts would be made to fortify them.

On Nov 2, Tenggara Bersatu chief Hassan Rasid and division committee members announced their departure from the party, citing a lack of confidence in the party's leadership.

Earlier, Bersatu election committee chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi announced the party's election results, which saw 169 divisions successfully hold meetings and elections.

"Of these 169 divisions, 74 conducted elections at division level. The remaining 95 divisions recorded uncontested wins for all positions.

"The attendance percentage, based on the total votes received, was 61%," he said, adding there were 29,717 eligible delegates.

Abdul Azim said the committee also received 31 complaints and objections within the permitted timeframe.

He said issues raised included conference rules, election procedures, delegate legitimacy, ballot issuing procedures and the vote-counting process.

"Some were submitted after the deadline so the committee did not consider them. The central election committee made appropriate decisions within its jurisdiction, in line with the party constitution," he said.

The polls saw Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin retaining his position as president uncontested, while Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin rose to deputy president post uncontested.

Former deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was voted in as Bersatu vice-president, while Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and Radzi retained their vice-president posts.
